Where is the webpage for the classes?

You can find a link to the webpage for all classes in the Classrooms tab on our homepage. You can also click here. Please note, this page is password protected.

Is my internet speed fast enough for these zoom classes?

All of our classes are online and you'll need fairly reliable internet access to attend them.  While everyone's internet speed capabilities are unique to their location, most homes will be well equipped to handle these Zoom meetings. If you would like further specifics, you can check out Zoom's answers here.

My child has a scheduled class. What do they do?

Welcome to Virtual Learners Aftercare! Log on to our website, then click on Classrooms in the top banner to access the classes. Once prompted, enter the password that was emailed to you, you've arrived at Virtual Learners Aftercare. Have your child click on the box that pertains to the class they will be attending to join the Zoom meeting. If you already have Zoom downloaded on your computer (which you'll need to do beforehand), then a Zoom meeting window should pop up.

What if I don't have, or lost, the password to the classroom webpage?

If it is before your scheduled class time you can email us and we will get it to you as soon as we can. If it is when your scheduled class is starting please text or call (323) 528-7405 so you can get the password ASAP.

How will my child attend class?

Once your child has logged onto the Classrooms webpage, they'll be in charge of selecting which class they are enrolled in. Ms. Chloe will be waiting in the classroom for children to appear in the waiting room and then let them in.

Where are the Zoom links for the classes?

All of the links can be found on the Classrooms webpage. They are embedded into the boxes that are labeled for each class session. All you have to do is click on the box and you're good to go!

Equipment and Materials Requirements

Will there be additional passwords to get into the classrooms?

The passwords are embedded into the Zoom links for added security.  All they'll need to do is click on the class and they will be put in the Zoom waiting room!

What kind of space will my child need in the home to attend these classes?

They'll need a space that they are comfortable sitting in for the entire class as well as space for them to do their homework (desk, table, lap desk, etc.). Also, a relatively quiet environment is important not only for their sake but for the sake of the other children in the session.

How big will the group sessions be?

All group sessions will be capped at 10 children. This is to ensure that all children in the class can get enough attention and can be aided in completing homework or participating in activities.

What happens if my child is late to class or must leave early?

It's okay!  We understand that things might pop up here and there, and that students might be late. All we ask is that you join the class as soon as you can! If it is planned that your child will be late or that they will need to leave early please just send an email to us so we know what to expect.

Will attendance be taken in the group sessions?

Attendance will be taken in group sessions. If your child misses a session and we were not notified of their absence you will be contacted.

What kind of online protections are there for these classes?

Access to the session web page is password protected. Without access to this page, no one will be able to access the Zoom classes. Additionally, every Zoom class is also password protected through their website. Waiting rooms will be enabled for all zoom meetings so Ms. Chloe will only allow entry to those who are on the roster.

What kind of equipment will my child need?

In order to attend Virtual Learners Aftercare classes, children will need a computer/laptop/tablet/phone that has a camera and a microphone.  Steady internet access is also needed. Although it's not required, headphones can be a big bonus, and ear buds with a built-in microphone (that ones that you would use for your phone, cord or no cord) are awesome! Whatever combination of these you decide is best for your child.

If I have more than one child signed up for a class can they share a device?

This is up to you and what you think would be best for your children's learning. If they can work on assignments while being next to one another the same device will not be a problem. However, if you foresee them being a distraction to one another and would prefer they be in different locations in the house two different devices would be better.

What should my child and I have prepared before class begins?

Before the very first class your child attends please be sure to have submitted your Online Liability Form and Video & Image Release forms via email. Also, if your child has assignments, extra materials, or anything that could be shared with Ms. Chloe that would assist in homework help and tutoring that should be emailed to us as well. Your child should have their homework, any textbooks and workbooks, paper, and writing utensils with them to ensure they have all that they need to complete their homework. All extra activities will only require materials such as a pencil, coloring utensils, and paper.

Payments and Refunds

When is payment due for classes?

Payment for classes needs to be submitted before the beginning of the class or set of classes that your child is enrolled in. Ex: I signed up for the Butterfly package (8-weeks of classes) I would submit payment for all 8 weeks before the first class on Monday.

How do I submit payment?

Once you have completed the enrollment form, you will be receiving an email from info@vlakids.net that will have a link to use to submit your payment.

What happens in the event that Ms. Chloe cannot hold class?

In the rare event that Ms. Chloe cannot hold class all parents will be notified at the email that they enrolled their child with. This notification will be given at the soonest notice and you will be fully refunded for the missed class.

What if I sign up for a class and I learn that my internet is not reliable enough for zoom? Can I get a refund?

Yes! It's disappointing that we won't be able to include your child in Virtual Learners Aftercare, but we understand. We will happily reimburse you your enrollment fee. If this request is made the refund will be prorated to reflect the time they spent in our program. Email us to start the refund process. Further questions about refunds are addressed in the Refund Policy section of our Virtual Learners Aftercare Handbook here.

What happens if I sign my child up for class and they decide they don't like it and would like to quit? Can I get a refund?

Yes!  We're sorry that your child is not happy with our classes, but we completely understand and realize that it's just not for everyone. Once this request has been made the refund will be prorated to reflect the time they spent in class. Email us to start the refund process. Further questions about refunds are addressed in the Refund Policy section of our Virtual Learners Aftercare Handbook here.

What if my child misses a class due to technical difficulties? Will I be refunded for this?

No.  It will be up to the child (and parents) to make sure that they attend classes. If they are not in class Ms. Chloe will not have time to track down those who are missing as she will have other students in attendance.  Further questions about refunds are addressed in the Refund Policy section of our Virtual Learners Aftercare Handbook here.
